How to approach pitching to your dream clients

As the festive season is fast approaching, brands are naturally needing a lot of content for social media and paid marketing campaigns.

Therefore, it's the perfect time to showcase what you can offer them and land those dream clients. With the right approach, you can turn this busy period into a golden opportunity for your photography business.

Tips to stand out and secure those projects.

1. Warm Up Your Potential Clients

Start by engaging with potential clients you’d like to work with on social media. Like, comment, and share their posts to get noticed. Be genuine in your interactions—no one likes a spam account. The goal is to build a relationship so they recognize your name when you reach out.

2. Share relevant work

Showcase your best work on social media that aligns with the season ahead whether it be for Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas etc. If you have relevant past projects, now is the time to share them. If not, create passion projects that showcase your skills and the kind of work you want to attract in the future. This will help potential clients envision what you can do for them and make you stand out from the masses.

3. Get the right contact information

Do some research to find the email addresses of brand managers or marketing team members at the companies you want to work with. LinkedIn can be a great resource for finding the right contacts or politely reach out and ask for the relevant contact information so you reaching out doesn’t get lost in the post as we like to say.

4. Craft a compelling pitch

Once you have the contact information, it's time to spend some time working on your pitch. Include exactly what you can offer the specific brand, along with your service guide or portfolio featuring examples of your work. Tailor your pitch to each brand and show how your skills can meet their specific needs, there is no point sending the same pitch to 10 brands. Offer ideas for projects and explain why you're the best fit for their brand.

5. Maintain professionalism

Throughout your communication, remain polite and professional. Every interaction reflects on you and your business, so make sure to leave a positive impression. Be transparent about your processes and easily contactable. Focus on executing their vision rather than pushing your own agenda. Even if you get a "no" now, leaving a good impression can lead to opportunities in the future.

Remember, securing dream clients takes time and effort, but with these tips, you'll be well on your way to a successful and festive season filled with amazing projects. Happy pitching!
